University Grants Commission: We will have brief description about University Grants Commission also abbreviated as UGC which is a statutory body set up by Indian Union Government. They are given two responsibilities one is of providing funds & that of coordination, determination & maintenance of standards in institutions in higher education. Rajiv Gandhi National Fellowship has came into existence from 1st April, 2012 having mission to increase level of higher education among disabled students.

To be a part of this Fellowship aspirants has to register themselves before two years of receiving award letter, if they find your research work satisfactory then they will extend it to 3 years or more. Students with disabilities can take admission in M.Phil or Ph.D. under this fellowship by completing required formalities for admission. They will verify whether institute of university is valid for Fellowship or not as per the advertisement of UGC.

RGNF Fellowship for Disabled Students 

Every year round about 200 students are being admitted through this Fellowship but those aspirant who wish to take part in this. They have to provide disability certificate from medical authority once organization approves it after then their admission can be confirmed. Once candidate will be eligible for Fellowship then they will not be entitled to any other benefits from Central or State Government or any other body like UGC offering.

According to scheme 200 fellows are getting chance where there is 15% reservation for Scheduled Caste & 7 ½ for Scheduled Tribes for fellowship award. If number of candidates increases as per mentioned available number then UGC will select aspirants based on percentage of marks obtained by appellants in Post-Graduation Examination. If any candidate is interested to take part in this then last date for submission of application form is 31st July, 2016.
